TSOI Wing Chau, Rachel's creative style mainly revolves around emotion, narrative and humour. She likes to express her emotions and feelings through metaphors, fables and symbols. She also hopes that the audience will reflect on the messages while watching her works.

As a student who loves illustration, she believes that the form of illustration is not only limited to 2D but also applied to different media such as animation, comics, storybooks, etc, which brings different feelings to viewers. Therefore, besides painting and illustration creation, she is also keen on other fields, such as animation, sculpture, book design and 3D design, trying to explore the surprises brought by different media.

蔡穎秋的創作風格主要圍繞情感,敘事及詼諧。她喜歡通過隱喻、寓言和象徵等方式表達着自己的情緒和感覺, 亦希望觀眾觀看她的作品同時反思當中所帶出的訊息。

作為一名熱愛插畫的學生,蔡穎秋認為插畫在形式上不僅只侷限在平面上,亦應用於不同媒介例如動畫,漫畫,故事書等,所帶給觀者的感受各有不同。因此除了繪畫和插圖創作以外,她也熱衷於其他領域,例如動畫,雕塑,書籍設計,三維設計等,嘗試發掘不同媒介所帶出的驚喜。

曾經我認為創作受單一媒介的限制。例如大多數用於油畫的工具是油漆刷或大筆刷,而中國畫筆則用於風景畫。然而,隨著信息的開放,從現代藝術創作的材料來看,越來越多的創作者在媒體選擇上變得更加多樣化,以充分表達自己的想法,不再受單一媒體的限制。《裂紋系列》中使用了可以在日常生活中使用的各種工具,並嘗試利用墨水和這些工具來呈現石頭的質地和裂縫。在創作過程中,有趣的是使用不同的工具來進行創作的可變性。某些工具例如直尺或海綿在創作上可能會有不同的限制,但媒介的可能性以及最終的結果令人驚訝,亦對於未來的創作有極大的啟發。

I used to think that creation was limited to a single medium. For example, most of the tools for oil painting were paintbrushes or large brushes, and Chinese brushes were used for landscape painting. However, with the opening up of information and judging from the materials of modern art creation, more and more creators have become more diversified in the choice of media in order to fully express their ideas. They are no longer restricted by a single media, moving towards the use of mixed media. In “Crack series”, I have used different kinds of tools that can be used in daily life and tried to present the texture and cracks of the stone by using ink with these tools. During the process, it was interesting to see the variability of using different tools to create the artwork. Each tool may have different limitations in creation such as the ruler and sponge, but the possibility of media unlimited and the final outcome was quite amazing which also has greatly inspired my future creation.
