Apple

Video

1'17"

2018

Apple is a quick song video. The lyrics were produced when I was high on happiness after the relief of finishing and submitting an assignment. It probably took less than an hour to complete the lyrics, however, the video filming and musician hunting was another big challenge to me.The lyrics created by Ramila are based on the theme “apple”, describing the variety of apples available in our society. “If you listen to the song closely, it is really talking about anything related to the apple, from the colours to the story of Snow White. Ironically, there is no presence of an actual apple in the video. I wonder why?”

Down & Up

Silver gelatine print

Set of 2: 20.32 × 25.4 cm

2019

There are two photos in this work of Ramila, Down and Up. In Down, the audience is looking down from the window. In Up, the audience is looking up from the floor.“The theme of Down & Up is Dichotomy. In life, many things do not go the way you planned. You may face a lot of difficulties and disappointments. The first photo is Down, it represents things not going your way. And now you are sad and upset. But I tell you don’t lose hope! The second photo, Up, represents breaking down. I wanna let you know that no matter who you are, where you come from or even what gender or age you are: It’s okay. It’s alright if things don’t go your way.,but don’t stay there for too long because I know you have so much more potential than just that.I encourage you :)When You are Down, Look Up.”
