KWAN Wing Chi, Gigi is an artist based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. She works across different forms and mediums including drawing, painting, performance, videography and installation.

Cosmic Candy

Performance film

53’’

2020

The documentary performance film is based on a self-BDSM headset where BDSM is a practise originally requiring at least two people, dominant and submissive. Made with pvc cloth, reflective fabric, wire, rope, glowing acrylic, glitter, clips and candy. It is designed to play with the view of interaction while still offering an alike sensation during an usual BDSM sex activity.

The film is filled with montage and ASMR sounds that stimulate imagination and brings a more intimate relation with the viewer.

‘Taste of sweet and pain
.All day and night.
Unhide your hidden taste.’

Love Utopia

Drawing performance

60’

2018

It is a drawing performance done right after the break up with my first love.

Accompanied with mainstream sad-love songs, I forced myself to think about those heartbreaking memories and see the performance as a pure emotional release, a way to confide in the audience.

The performance becomes an extension in both physically and mentally. My gestures and body movements eventually left beautiful kinky marks.
