12 Identities

Clay

Size variable

2020

I moulded 12 different wallets, card holders and passport holders. To me they are the symbol of one’s identity. Since the audience cannot see what’s inside, I think it can express my feelings towards the vague identities that I have at the moment.

In memory of ‘Mo Jai’

Engraved seals

Set of 2: 2.5 × 2.5 cm, 2 × 2 cm

2019

This work is about my pet goldfish ‘Mo Jai’ that passed away in the earlier days. I created his own name seal and a picture of me hugging him. His name seal is read from left to right which I want it to be more contemporary. Also, I like the word ‘Mo’ appears to be a seaweed and ‘Jai’ with a fish inside. The style of his name gives a vibrant feeling and a sense of flowing. For the pictorial seal, I found that I didn’t even have a photo of me and ‘Mo Jai’ so I made this as a way to remember him.
