“Between Strangers” was on view at the ‘United In Bookplates’ in Providence University Art Center, Taiwan, in 2020. Hong Kong has a unique food culture – dai pai dong, some food stalls in Hong Kong. Different people get along with strangers in a food stall. Customers are used to sharing tables with outlanders. I was attracted by this and I used watercolor to highlight the harmony of coexisting differences between strangers. “Even if they come and enjoy the meal solely, they are enjoying the meal with others closely, sharing the same table and under the same place – the green canvas.” The bookplate recorded this interesting scene: the distance between strangers is close but they do not know each other. Which also presents the warm feeling with such unique food culture in Hong Kong.

This is a set of three banners that are placed in the Visual Art classroom in ECF Saint Too Canaan College. The target of banners is the secondary school students. It aims to enhance the art interest of the students and to promote art history knowledge. In the design, I used different colours to distinguish the eras in art history. I combined the images of artworks, artists, and the students who are wearing their school uniforms in my illustrations to lead students to be more engaged. Also, I used the colourful and lively speech bubbles with the information to introduce the art knowledge. I hope this set of banners can attract students to understand more about art history by its vivid designs and educational information.
