CHEUNG Hei Ying

CHEUNG Hei Ying, Mimie explores ephemerality – in particular the ephemerality of light. She believes the ways light is absorbed and reflected by different materials, and the fleeting effects it may produce on varying surfaces and textures is a powerful metaphor for the human condition as it’s affected by external contexts.

Recently, Mimie focused her attention on the psychological and mental impact of light as a physical phenomenon that may have on human beings. She explores her ideas through the design of (small) objects which she places to refract light in ways that may trigger subtle sensual experiences for her audience.

Throughout times and cultures, the rainbow has been treasured for its simplicity and subtle beauty. As a natural phenomenon that occurs only in very determined situations, the rainbow represents an ephemeral equilibrium in a dynamic system.

I’m waiting for the rainbow. You are invited to stay and witness.
